I think that the vaccine to protect against the SARS-CoV-2 virus (what causes COVID) is a great protection against getting infected. I have personally taken the Pfizer version and believe myself to have a level of protection that benefits me and those that could have potentially gotten infected by me had I gotten infected myself.

Most people should take one of the vaccines but I do have a problem with anyone that pushes for legislation that forces another to take it. If a private business demands that their employees take the vaccine, I’m OK with that given that work there is voluntary and the owner(s) of that business should have the right to run it with the interests of the firm in mind. If the government steps in and forces the business to force their employees, that’s where I have a problem it.

People need to be able to make their own choices just as they need to be able to live with whatever becomes the consequence for each of those choices. This is freedom and that freedom is under assault by people who believe that they know better than you.

They tell you that they’re following the science but they are selective in what science they review. Most haven’t ever read a scientific journal or even have the ability to name one – much less cite the science.

In reality, they follow people from the scientific community that have openly and verifiably lied to the American people about the dangers of the virus, its origins, and how to protect against it. This is not science; it’s politics – there’s a difference.

If I see someone wearing a mask in a public place, I don’t criticize them. I also wouldn’t criticize someone who chooses not to wear a face covering. This is because I have a deep respect for the rights of people even if I don’t have any significant respect for the people themselves. While you would need to earn it for me to respect you, your rights aren’t about your and they shouldn’t hinge on my feelings or those of anyone with legislative power.

It seems that many of us have forgotten what it means to live in a free country. We fight for free or discounted food, healthcare, housing, and education yet none of those things are actually free. People have to pay for them in order for any of those products and services to exist. None of those items have anything to do with America being the home of the free.

Freedom means that we can pave our way through life without the burden of taxation without representation and having the government step in and dictate how you can and cannot live your life.
We have laws that protect people from abuse but anything beyond that shouldn’t require a politician’s approval.

I do hope that more people continue to get vaccinated. The benefits are real and shared by everyone. Too many have died from COVID-19 though, with all that said, most people who get sick will have or have had a full recovery. Using history as a gauge, when we surrender our rights for the sake of security or other benefit, our freedoms are never recovered.

We are the masters of our own lives but only so long as the freedoms that allow such to be possible aren’t surrendered to a government that doesn’t have and is incapable of having our best interests at heart.
